As I’ve said from the beginning – Mainstream Social Media platforms are anything but social. They are designed to dumb us down, to continually have us competing with one another, to keep us under a superficial spell. Scrolling and scrolling and scrolling, as the hours tick by, the days roll away – until one day we realise it’s too late to make the necessary changes in the real world... But don’t panic, at least we had hundreds of likes today...
It's not real. But you are.
You have a chance to make a positive impact in this world. To make real change that will benefit the future of your children and grandchildren.
Look around for fuck's sake – people are becoming ever more zombified. Glued to their screens as the world passes them by.
Is that mankind’s future? An addiction to the cheap, fast, grotesque sensationalism that is rotting our brains and hardening our hearts?
No thank you! Surely our precious time on earth is worth more than the bargain-basement voyeurism of watching so-called celebrities go about their mundane, disingenuous existences? Surely. And then there’s the absolute joke of the scammers, duplicating accounts to con desperate people out of their last pennies. Where’s the noise from the eternally offended ‘fact-checkers’ then? Nothing but crickets.
Feeling what I feel about ‘social media’ in its current state, how could I possibly continue contributing to platforms run by billionaires with insidious data-harvesting and surveillance agendas, and still look myself in the mirror? I can’t.
What I can do, with the help of our Free Folk tech wizards, is build a place on our own website to keep on playing my part in this challenging transition, to remind you day in, day out – that you my friend are here to carry the remains of this broken world, to light the way into a future of meaning and purpose, where love and compassion are abundant.
A world where we go, above competition, beyond division and remember we are one.
